The Forum

The Forum publishes informed commentary on issues in contemporary American politics. Topics include parties, elections, and political participation; the news media, interest groups, Congress, the presidency, and the courts; and trends in public finance, presidential popularity, and congressional productivity. Articles may take a contemporary, historical, or comparative approach.
The journal rests on a simple premise: social scientists, historians, and legal scholars often have valuable insights into current political questions, grounded in their disciplinary expertise. But they rarely find outlets willing to publish the analytic reasoning behind that commentary. The Forum fills that gap.

Godzilla Movies Work Better as Trump Allegory Than Metaphor

Robert Boatright reads the Showa era Godzilla films of 1954 to 1975 against the first Trump presidency and its aftermath, mapping Liz Cheney onto Mothra and Ron DeSantis onto Mechagodzilla, and calls the exercise exploratory rather than settled.
