The Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC) is a major genomic research facility and wholly owned subsidiary of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals located in Tarrytown, New York. Established in 2013, it runs one of the world’s largest human genetic sequencing efforts, using massive data sets to discover new medicines, validate drug targets, and advance precision medicine.
Exome sequencing in more than a million people picked out a gene whose rare damaging variants track with lower liver fat, lower blood sugar and a leaner fat distribution. Roughly one person in 7,000 carries one.
